As a lifelong resident for over 60 years, I share residents' concerns about the exponential growth and large-scale development that has impacted our quality of life.
If left unchanged, the township's current direction will lead to:
More tractor trailer and vehicle traffic congestion on local roadways, without the support of critical infrastructure
Increased air and noise pollution
Higher demands on limited public safety resources (police, fire and EMS)
Continued loss of farmland and green space
While seeking an elected office was never a personal ambition, I will no longer be just another voice from the sidelines.
As a highly-qualified and proven leader, I will help to make Silver Spring Township a better community for all residents. I have no ties to any developers or special interest groups—and stand firmly against "quid pro quo" politics.
Thank you—I look forward to speaking with you and earn your vote for Supervisor.

Transparency promotes trust—and a proactive approach to transparency will save valuable time and resources that can be refocused to other projects.
The township's website should be more user-friendly. Information needs to be organized, accessible and searchable.
Encourage more public participation and engagement. All public meetings should be video recorded and posted online for viewing.
New development must be in alignment with the township's comprehensive plan and existing ordinances. No more changes that only benefit developers—and no spot zoning!
Residents' voices and concerns shall be given fair and equal consideration in discussions.
Support the township's land preservation program.
Ensure our police, fire and EMS have the necessary funding to enhance public safety.
Make improvements to local infrastructure: township roadways, parks and recreational spaces.
Provide support for local businesses, community partners and non-profit organizations.
Run the township like a business using sound policies, procedures and common-sense.
Adhere to established accounting principles and proper financial reporting.
Recognize that revenue sources are limited.
Establish a clear vision, mission and values for the township.
Always make informed decisions that are in the best interest of the residents and the township.
The Board of Supervisors shall be a model for good governance.
Last year, Mark helped organize and lead the No Trade Center opposition group to a proposed 1.2 million sq. ft. mega-warehouse that would have impacted over 30 residential neighborhoods in Silver Spring Township.
The coordinated efforts of No Trade Center, which included hiring legal counsel and engineering experts, led to a well-attended public hearing at the Cumberland Valley High School.
Ultimately, the Board of Supervisors sided with the residents and voted unanimously to deny the project. Mark continues to lead the residents’ intervention in the developer’s land use appeal.
